HIP1011D-Dual PCI Hot Swap Controller
HIP1011D is the first IC independent control of two PCI hot-plug slots. The HIP1011D all have two separate PCI hot-plug slots that function and function as controllers as the HIP1011A but in the same footprint area. The HIP1011D is designed for physically close proximity to serve each two adjacent PCI slots independently but reduces layout complexity and placement costs in assembly. It creates two independent power control solutions with discrete power MOSFETs and some passive components. Four power supplies of +5 V +3.3 V, +12 V and -12V can be controlled independently for each slot. There are four integrated current sense switches for +12 V and -12 V for +5 V and +3.3 V supply overcurrent protection across external currentsense sense voltage resistors. Additionally, +5 V, +3.3 V and +12 V output undervoltage conditions for on-chip reference monitoring. The two PWRON inputs control the state switch, and each slot A and slot B output. Under any output overcurrent condition, or undervoltage condition on the +5 V, +3.3 V or +12 V output, a low level (0V) asserts the associated FLTN output, and all associated switches are latched. Adjacent output service slots are not affected. The FLTN signal goes low and the MOSFET latches off is user determined by a single capacitor from each FLTN pin to ground. This added feature enables the HIP1011D to ignore system noise transients. The FLTN latch is cleared when the PWRON input toggles low. During the initial power-up of the main VCC supply (+12 V), the PWRON input from the switch on the turning point is inhibited and the latch is held in the reset state until the VCC input voltage is greater than 10V. User programmable overcurrent threshold and turnon slew rate. A resistor is connected to the OCSET pin to program the overcurrent threshold of both sockets. A capacitor connected to the gate pin sets the turn-on rate.
