HIP1011-PCI Hot Plug Controller

HIP1011 is a PCI hot-pluggable voltage bus control IC for use in modern computer systems that facilitates hot-plug use of adapter cards in and out of active or passive back planes. With discrete power MOSFETs and several passive components, the HIP1011 creates a small and simple yet unfinished power control solution. Four independent supplies control +12 V, +3.3 V, +5 V and -12V. And +12V and -12V switches are integrated. For +5 V and +3.3 V supplies, overcurrent protection is provided by sensing the voltage across an external current sense resistor. For +12V and -12V supplies, overcurrent protection is provided internally. In addition, an on-chip reference is used to monitor the +5 V, +3.3 V and +12 V output undervoltage conditions. The PWRON input controls the state of the switch. During any output overcurrent condition, or undervoltage condition on the +5 V, +3.3 V or +12 V output, all MOSFETs are immediately latched off and a low level (0V) is asserted on the FLTN output. The FLTN latch is cleared when the PWRON input toggles low again. At the initial main power VCC supply (+12 V), the PWRON input inhibits the open switch, and the latch reset is held until the state of the VCC input is over 10V. User programmable overcurrent threshold and turn-on slew rate. The OCSET pin is connected to a resistor scheme overcurrent threshold. The capacitor is connected to the turn-on rate set by the gate pin. Additionally, capacitors may be added to the FLTN pin to provide noise immunity.
