Supertex's SR036 and SR037 are inductorless, dual-output off-line controllers. They don't require any transformers, inductors, high voltages or input capacitance. The input voltage, HVIN, is designed to be full wave corrected from unfiltered 120V or 240V AC power lines. It is designed to control an external N-channel MOSFET. When VGS(TH) is 40V between HVIN and VGS(TH) is the threshold voltage of the external MOSFET, the external N-channel MOSFET is turned on allowing it to connect the external capacitor to VSOURCE. An unregulated DC voltage will be developed by Vsource. Once HVIN is above 45V, the N-channel MOSFET is turned off. The gate voltage of the highest external MOSFET is 24V. The unregulated voltage is about 18V. The SR036 also provides a regulated 3.3V while the SR037 provides a regulated 5.0V.
