ADM1014 - Dual PCI Thermal PlugTM Controller

The ADM1014 is a dual PCI voltage bus controller that allows hot-plugging of adapter cards to and from the backplane, either actively or passively. The device requires only 4 external power supplies for a complete MOSFET and a few discrete components for a power control solution for two PCI slots. The ADM1014 operates from +12 V and +3.3 V auxiliary supplies and controls five independent supplies, (3.3 V, 3.3 VAUX +5 V, +12 V and -12 V) two independent channels (A and B). The +3.3 VAUX, 12 V and -12V power switch supplies are integrated on-chip, and internal current limiting is provided. For +3.3 V and +5 V supplies, the device drives an external N-channel power MOSFET that provides overcurrent protection through the induced voltage drop over an external current sense resistor. All 10 supply current limits are set by a single resistor to GND, connected to the OCSET pin. Brown-out detection provides +3.3 V, +5 V, +12 V for 3.3 VAUX supplies. Overcurrent detection is provided on all supplies. In the event of overcurrent or undervoltage fault, the output of any channel will be shut down. The turn-on slew rate can be controlled using eight external capacitors, connecting all supplied gate drives. The supplied logic controls the four main outputs PWRONA and PWRONB pins. When these pins are high, the output is on, and when they are low, the output is off. 3.3 VAUX supplies have their own control inputs, PAUXA and PAUXB.
