MAX1615 - High-Voltage, Low-Power Linear Regulator for Notebook Computers
The MAX1615/MAX1616 are micropower, linear regulators in the SOT23-5 package with an always-on supply, keep-alive power CMOS RAM and a high-voltage battery for the microcontroller (microcontroller in the system). Key features include: wide input voltage range, low dropout voltage, and low quiescent supply current. Despite a miserly 8µA (max) no-load current, the MAX1615/MAX1616 have excellent line transient response and AC power supply rejection. They provide a clean, fixed 5V or 3.3V output (MAX1615) or a 1.24V to 28V adjustable output (MAX1616), even with rapid supply voltage changes, when subjected to switching, which occurs during input power from the battery to the AC adapter . The space-saving SOT23-5 package has excellent thermal characteristics and tolerates 571mW of power dissipation. Fault protected internal foldback current limit and thermalshutdown circuitry.
