MAX8873 - Low Dropout, 120mA Linear Regulator

Overview
MAX8873T/S/R MAX8874T/S/R low-dropout linear regulators from +2.5 V to +6.5 V input range, and provide up to 120mA. A PMOS bypass transistor allows low, 82µA supply current to maintain independent loads, making these devices ideal for battery-powered portable devices such as cell phones and cordless phones. The device features Dual Mode™: its output voltage is preset (3.15V for the T version, 2.84V for the VS version, or 2.80V for the R version) or adjustable with an external resistor divider. The total error output is ±3.5%. The output voltage is set on the low side of the pop range, minimizing power consumption for longer battery life. Other features include low power shutdown, short circuit protection, thermal shutdown protection, and reverse battery protection. The MAX8874 also includes an auto-discharge feature that actively discharges the output voltage to ground when the device is placed in shutdown mode. Both devices are housed in a tiny 5-pin SOT23 package. For dual-channel versions, refer to the MAX8865/MAX8866 datasheet. For low noise 30µVRMS output version noise, refer to the MAX8877/MAX8878.
