UCC3952 - Enhanced Single Cell Li-Ion Battery Protection IC

Features•Protection of sensitive Li-Ion batteries from overcharge and overdischarge•Specialized for one-cell applications•Integrated low impedance MOSFET switch and sense resistor•Precision trimmed charge and discharge voltage limits•Extremely low power consumption•3A current capability • Over current and short circuit protection • Reverse charge protection • Thermal protection

The UCC3952 is a monolithic BiCMOS Li-Ion battery protection circuit designed to improve the useful working life of a one-cell charged battery pack. Cell protection features include internal trimmers to limit charge and discharge voltages, discharge current limit for delayed shutdown and ultra-low current sleep mode states when cells are discharged. Other features include reduced power loss on the chip for reduced external MOSFETs, while component count and charge pump for low battery voltage charging or discharging of the battery pack. The protection circuit requires an external capacitor and can operate and safely shut down in the presence of short-circuit conditions.
