MAX1665S - Li-Ion Battery Protection
The MAX1665 provides protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcharge current, and discharge current for 2-cell, 4-cell lithium-ion (Li+) battery packs. Very low operating current ensures that cells are not overdischarged during long-term storage. The MAX1665 controls two external N-channel MOSFETs to limit the charge and discharge voltages. When charging is allowed, the voltage per cell is below 4.3 V. When the voltage of any cell is higher than 4.3 V (overvoltage limit), the MAX1665 charging MOSFET turns off. This safety feature prevents overcharging of any intracellular battery pack. , the voltage per cell is +2.5 V above the allowable discharge (undervoltage limit). If the voltage across any cell falls below 2.5 V, the MAX1665 turns off the discharge MOSFET. This safety feature prevents any cells within the battery pack from being overdischarged. Charge and discharge if the voltage allows between PKN and National not to exceed 250mV. This safety feature prevents over-packaging of the current.
Features Complete protection against battery over-voltage Battery under-voltage packaging Excessive charge and discharge protection Extremely low supply current: 16 Ω A typical Low standby current: 1 Ω Maximum matched cell input bias current (<500pA) to maintain cell balance
