BQ2902PN-N-Battery Management
The bq2092 gas meter IC, which provides the same interface as SMBus, is intended for battery packs or in system installations to maintain an accurate record of provided battery charge. The bq2092 directly supports the ability to monitor NiCd, NiMH, and Li-Ion battery chemistries. The bq2092 supports many Smart Battery Data (SBData) commands using the SMBus protocol. The bq2092 also supports charging control for SBData. Battery status, ofcharge capacity remaining, time remaining and chemistry over the serial link. Battery charging country can be directly indicated using a four-segment LED display to graphically depict battery full, toempty in 25% increments. The bq2092 estimates battery selfdischarge based on an internal timer and temperature sensor and stores the user programmable rate information in an external EEPROM. The bq2092 also automatically recalibrates or "learns" the battery capability over a full process cycle from full discharge to empty. The bq2092 operates directly from three nickel chemistries. With REF output and external transistors, simple, inexpensive built-in regulators can provide VCC for other battery configurations. An external EEPROM is added to the program bq2092 with initial values and proper operation necessary.
