MAX5910-+65 V Simple Swap Technology Hot Swap Switch
The MAX5910/MAX5917 are fully integrated hot-swap switches for the positive power rail. These devices can be safely inserted into and removed from a circuit card backplane or port into the field without causing glitches to the backplane power rails. They also monitor various circuit parameters with logic level IFAULT outputs if faulty and disconnected load conditions occur. The MAX5910/MAX5917 operate over the +10 V to +65 V input voltage range and their design allows for thermal blockages such as Internet devices IP telephony, but not limited to this application. At startup, the internal power FET regulates the current between the backplane supply and the load to 280mA for the MAX5910, 567mA for the MAX5917A, 420mA for the MAX5917B. After startup, the FET is fully stepped up to reduce its resistance. To ensure reliable operation, the MAX5910/MAX5917 contain built-in safety features to prevent damage to the internal FETs. They include an enable input, which in response to a positive logic signal (+3.3 V or +5 V) allows the host system to disconnect the load. The MAX5910/MAX5917 Simple Swap Technology™ hot-swap ICs monitor four parameters: undervoltage-fault condition lockout (UVLO), power-no-good, zero-current detection, and thermal shutdown. These devices are available in the extended temperature range, -40°C to +85°C. "The MAX5910 is in an 8-pin SO package and the MAX5917A/B from the MAX5917 is in a 16-pin SO package.
