ICE1PCS01/G is an 8-pin wide input range controller IC with active power factor correction converter. It is designed as a boost topology converter and requires several external components. Its power supply recommends an external auxiliary power supply that will provide the IC on and off. The IC operates in CCM average current control and only in DCM under light load conditions. The switching frequency is programmable through the resistor on pin 4. Compensation of both voltage and current loops is external allowing full user control. There are various protection functions incorporated to ensure the operating conditions of the safety system. Examples are peak current limiting, undervoltage protection and output voltage sensing. Internal reference trim (5V 2%) to ensure precise protection and control levels. The device features a unique soft-start feature that limits the startup current, thereby reducing stress on the boost diode.
