AD5251 - Digital Potentiometer for Dual 64 and 256 Bit I2C Non-Volatile Memory
The AD5251/AD5252 are dual-channel, I2C, nonvolatile memory, digitally controlled potentiometers, with 64/256 positions, respectively. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment functions as mechanical potentiometers, trimmer resistors, and variable resistors. Part "General Purpose Programmable" allows multiple modes of operation, including read/write access to the RDAC and EEMEM registers, increment/decrement resistance, resistance changes on a ±6 dB scale, wiper setting readback, and additional EEMEM memory for the user Defines information such as other components' memory data in Infor, lookup tables or system identification information. The AD5251/AD5252 allow the host I2C controller to write the 64- or 256-step wiper settings in the RDAC register and store them in EEMEM. Once set Stored, they are automatically restored at system power-up. The settings of the RDAC register can also be restored dynamically. The AD5251/AD5252 provide additional increment, decrement, +6 dB step change, synchronous or asynchronous channel update mode for -6 dB step change. Increment and decrement functions allow for stepwise linear adjustments, while changes in ±6 dB steps are equivalent to doubling or halving the RDAC tap setting. These functions are useful for steep slopes, such as non-linear adjustment of white LED brightness and volume controls. Parts have A patented memory feature enables the user to access the EEMEM and obtain absolute end-to-end resistance tolerances for precision application RDACs resistance values. The AD5251/AD5252 are available in TSSOP-14 in 1kΩ, 10kΩ, 50kΩ, and 100kΩ options And all parts in the package, can operate over the extended industrial temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
