A3977KLP - Microstepping DMOS driver with translation
The A3977xED and A3977xLP complete micromotor drivers with built-in translation. They are designed to operate bipolar stepper motors in full, half, quarter, and eighth step modes, with an output drive capability of 35 V and ±2.5 A. The A3977 includes a fixed off-time current regulator in slow, fast or mixed The ability to operate in decay mode. This currentdecay control scheme reduces audible motor noise, increases step accuracy, and reduces power consumption. Converters are key to the ease of implementation of the A3977. By simply entering a pulse on the step input, the motor will take one step (full, half, quarter, or eighth depending on the two logic inputs). There are no phase sequence tables, high frequency control lines or complex interface schemes. The A3977 interface is ideal for a complex application where a microprocessor is unavailable or overburdened. Internal synchronous rectification control circuitry provides improved power consumption during pulse width modulation (PWM) operation. Internal circuit protection includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis, under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and cross-current protection. No special power-up sequence is required. The A3977 is available in two power packages, a 44-pin option in a plastic PLCC package with a copper bat tab (suffix Customs), a thin (<1.2mm), 28-pin TSSOP package with an exposed thermal pad (suffix LP). SLP package in lead free version (100% matte tin lead frame).
