The IR2170(S) is a monolithic design overcurrent sensing IC for motor drive applications. Induction motor phase currents pass through an external shunt resistor, detect an overcurrent condition, and transfer the signal low. IR's proprietary high voltage isolation technology is implemented to enable high bandwidth signal processing. A dedicated overcurrent trip (OC) signal facilitates IGBT short circuit protection. The pulse width of the OC output can be programmed by external resistors and capacitors. An open-drain output enables easy interfacing from 3.3V to 15V.
