BC10-Industrial Control IC
The BC10 and BC20 BLDC motor controllers provide the necessary functionality to control conventional 3-phase BLDC motor open or closed loop systems. The BC10 is capable of controlling motors requiring up to 1 kW of continuous input power; the BC20 is capable of controlling larger motors requiring up to 10 kW of continuous input power. Two controllers drive motors, generate PWM, decode commutation mode, multiplex current sense, and provide error amplification. A logic input mode of operation 60° or 120° commutation can be selected. The multiplexing of the current sense is used to make the current display always active and the output of the motor coil is proportional to the current. Therefore, it can be used to generate a current monitor output transconductance driver for easy servo compensation. The controller may generate applications where four-quadrant PWM requires continuous transition through zero speed, or 2-quadrant PWM for electrically quiet unidirectional application operation. The direction of rotation in 2-quadrant mode may be reversed using the reverse command input. Dynamic braking is automatically applied when the motor is stopped or decelerated in 2-quadrant mode. Such a deceleration profile can be followed even with the 2-quadrant PWM function.
