ISL6530 - Dual 5V Synchronous Buck Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Controller for DDRAM Memory VDDQ and VTT Terminations
The ISL6530 provides complete control and protection of dual DC-DC converters for high performance optimized DDRAM memory applications. It is designed to drive a low-cost N-channel MOSFET synchronous rectification buck topology, effectively generating VDDQ's 2.5V-powered DDRAM memory, DDRAM's differential signals VREF, and VTT's signal termination. The ISL6530 integrates all control, output regulation, monitoring and protection functions into a single package. The VDDQ output of the converter is maintained at 2.5V through an integrated high precision voltage reference. The VREF output is precisely regulated to 1/2 the memory power supply, with ±1% maximum tolerance over temperature and line voltage variation. VTT accurately tracks VREF. During V2_SD sleep mode, the VTT output remains a low power window regulator. The ISL6530 provides simple single feedback loop, voltagemode control with fast transient response. It includes two phase-locked 300kHz triangle wave oscillators that are displaced 90 degrees to minimize interference between the two PWM regulators. The regulator's error amplifier has a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and 6V/µs slew rate for fast transient high conversion bandwidth performance. The resulting PWM duty cycle ranges from 0% to 100%. The ISL6530 is protected against overcurrent conditions that inhibit PWM operation. The current ISL6530 monitors the VDDQ voltage regulator using the RDS(ON) upper MOSFET to eliminate the need for a current sense resistor.
