LM1946-LM1946 Over/Under Current Limit Diagnostic Circuit
The LM1946 provides superior designer common transistor or comparator based circuits for over or under current limit detection in industrial or automotive systems. Each of the 5 independent comparisons can be used for the display as an overcurrent or under current limit detector for an individual load. Two comparators monitoring a single load can act as a current window monitor. Current is monitored by a voltage drop on the wire harness, PC board wiring, or an external sense resistor to feed the load. Compensating for user-specified wiring limits utilizing resistance changes with temperature and supply voltage changes are also available. When the limit is reached on a compare, its output can drive an external LED or microprocessor. A load side can be grounded (not possible with ordinary comparator designs), which is very important for automotive systems.
