SG1543-Power output monitoring circuit
This monolithic integrated circuit contains all the necessary functions to monitor and control the output of a complex power system. Overvoltage (OV) sensing provides a circuit that triggers an external SCR to "skid" shutdown, undervoltage (UV) it can be used to monitor the output or sample input voltage; a third op amp/comparator, current sense (CL ) available are included in this IC, plus an independent, accurate reference voltage generator. Dual over- and under-voltage detection circuits can be programmed externally for minimum durations before triggering a fault. All functions contain open collector outputs although the TRIAC triggers can be used individually or wired together; directly connected only to the overvoltage detection circuit, which can be selectively activated from any other output, or from an external signal. The OV circuit also includes an optional latch and external reset function. Linear amplifiers, current sense circuits can be used with external compensation or as a high gain comparison. Although nominally zero input offset, the fixed set threshold can be increased by an external resistor. Instead of current limiting, this circuit can also be used as an additional voltage monitor. The internal reference voltage generator circuit is trimmed, eliminating the need for an external potentiometer and the entire circuit can be powered directly from the output being monitored or a separate bias voltage.
