X40010 - Dual voltage monitor with integrated CPU monitoring
The X40010/11/14/15 combines power-on reset control, watchdog timer, supply voltage monitoring, and secondary voltage monitoring, in one package. This combination reduces system cost, reduces board space requirements, and increases reliability. Applying a voltage to the VCC supply activates the power-on reset circuit to hold the reset/reset active period time. This allows the power supply and system oscillator to stabilize before the processor can execute code. The low voltage detection circuit protects the user's system from low voltage conditions and resets the system VCC down to the minimum VTRIP1 point. Reset/Reset is active until VCC returns to level and stable for proper operation. A second voltage monitoring circuit tracks the unregulated supply and provides a warning if a power supply fails or displays a different supply voltage. Three common low-voltage combinations, however, Xicor's unique circuitry allows the threshold or voltage monitor to be reprogrammed to meet special needs or fine-tune threshold applications requiring greater accuracy. The watchdog timer provides an independent mechanism to protect the microcontroller. When the microcontroller fails to restart a timer for a selectable time-out interval, the device activates the "WDO" signal. The user can select the time interval from three preset values. Once the interval is selected, the power will not change even while cycling.
