TPS2043-Triple Power Distribution Switch
The TPS2043 and TPS2053 triple power distribution switches are used in applications where high capacitive loads and short circuits may be encountered. The TPS2043 and TPS2053 three 135 MW N-channel MOSFET high-side power switches are integrated in a single package power distribution system, which requires multiple power switches. Each switch is controlled by logic, making this 5 V logic and 3 V logic compatible. The gate driver provides an internal charge pump that controls the rise and fall times of the power switch to minimize current surges during switching. The charge pump, requiring no external components, can operate from supplies as low as 2.7V. When the output load exceeds the current limit threshold or exists for a short period of time, the TPS2043 and TPS2053 limit switches to constant current mode, pulling the output current from the over current (OCX) logic to a safe level output low. When successive heavy overloads and short circuits increase the power consumption of the switch causing the temperature of the junction to rise, thermal protection circuitry shuts down the switch to prevent damage. Recovery from thermal shutdown is automatic once the device has cooled sufficiently. Internal circuitry ensures that the switch remains off until a valid input voltage exists. The TPS2043 and TPS2053 are designed to be limited to 0.9 A loads. These power distribution switches are packaged in a 16-pin Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SOIC) package and operate over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
