NIS3001 - Power IC for Synchronous Buck Controller with Integrated Driver and MOSFET
The NIS3001 is an integrated high power multi-chip solution DC to DC synchronous buck converter. It contains two MOSFETs whose power is controlled by an internal driver. All three chips are packaged in the PInPAKE power QFN package. The 10.510.5mm PInPAK] package increases power density and simplifies PCB layout. The device can be used in single-phase or multi-phase applications. The NIS3001 implements the latest MOSFET technology. Control MOSFETs are designed to provide better switching performance and operate at much lower temperatures compared to discrete solutions. Synchronous MOSFETs are designed to reduce conduction and switching losses at high frequencies. The integrated solution greatly reduces parasitic inductance with conventional discrete buck converters and results in the highest power conversion efficiency. The NIS3001 chip size and PInPAK design are optimized based on the power density of the MOSFET. The PInPAK layout allows direct routing to each power supply terminal. This results in a better thermal system solution. In addition, its thermal resistance is 50% lower than that of BGA. In conclusion, the NIS3001 has a buck converter with improved multiphase synchronization efficiency, reliability and scalability.
