CA3273 - High Side Driver
The CA3273 is equivalent to a PNP pass transistor power supply IC operating as a current switch in either high-side driver saturation (ON) or cut-off (OFF) mode. The integrated circuit in the CA3273 protects from passing current, excessive input voltage and thermal overload. High-side drivers are used in general purpose vehicles and potentially high-stress applications. If high stress conditions exist, the use of external zener diodes of 35V or less between the supply and load terminals may be required to prevent damage due to severe conditions such as load dump, reverse battery (and positive or negative transients ). The CA3273 is designed to withstand nominal battery reverse (VBAT=13V) conditions without permanently damaging the IC. The CA3273 is available in a modified 3-pin TO-202 plastic power package.
