The DRV5056 is an AOD496 linear Hall-effect sensor whose response is proportional to the magnetic flux density at the magnetic south pole. The device can be used for precise position sensing in a variety of applications.
The analog output has a unipolar magnetic response, driving 0.6 V in the absence of a magnetic field and increasing when a south magnetic pole is applied. In applications that detect a magnetic pole, this response maximizes the output dynamic range. Four sensitivity options further maximize the output swing based on the desired sensing range.
The device operates from a 3.3V or 5V supply. Magnetic flux is sensed perpendicular to the top of the package, and the two package options offer different sensing directions.
The device uses a ratiometric architecture that minimizes V CC tolerance errors when an external analog-to-digital converter (ADC) uses the same V CC as its reference. In addition, the device features magnet temperature compensation to offset the linear performance drift of the magnet over a wide temperature range. Device options without magnet drift temperature compensation are also available.
Options A1 to A4 support a temperature range of –40°C to +125°C. The A6 version supports a temperature range of 0°C to 85°C.
