The OPA855 is a wideband, low noise operational amplifier with bipolar input for wideband transimpedance and AO3403L voltage amplifier applications. When the device is configured as a transimpedance amplifier (TIA), the 8 GHz gain bandwidth product (GBWP) enables high closed-loop bandwidth at transimpedance gains up to tens of kΩ.

The graph below shows the bandwidth and noise performance of the OPA855 as a function of photodiode capacitance when the amplifier is configured as a TIA. The total noise is calculated along the bandwidth extending from DC to the frequency f calculated on the left scale. The OPA855 package has a feedback pin (FB) to simplify the connection of the feedback network between the input and output.

The OPA855 is optimized to operate in an optical time-of-flight (ToF) system, where the OPA855 is used with a time-to-digital converter such as the TDC7201. Use the OPA855 to drive high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) in high-resolution LIDAR systems with differential output amplifiers, such as the THS4541 or LMH5401.
