Mate30 Pro trial / How far can Google services and other apps go without flashing the machine?
You should already know from various reports that Huawei's Mate30 Pro will not have pre-loaded/built-in Google Mobile Service (Google Mobile Service, hereinafter referred to as GMS), which means that Mate30 Pro has not obtained GMS authorization, which makes the original factory The strategy of Mate30 Pro has become that the first wave of Mate30 Pro will lock Huawei mobile phone users to upgrade first. These users are already familiar with Huawei mobile phones, and may also agree with Mate30 Pro's design, power, camera, interface... and so on. If you don't want to study or encounter the trouble of using the app, you may skip it this time. (A good phone.... alas...)
What is Google Mobile Services (GMS)? Which ones are banned on Mate30?
Android operating system, and Google mobile services are to be looked at separately.
The Android operating system is open source, and everyone can use it and install it on the device.
GMS needs to be authorized by Google to use it, usually device manufacturers apply to Google to obtain it (the meaning of obtaining a license is quite complicated, if you are interested, you can read this English report from XDA).
Except for the Chinese market, most of the B3F-1062 mobile phones are installed with "Google-style Android", that is, the Android OS that provides complete Google services from the factory, and can be used right out of the box.
GMS includes the Google applications we use every day, the use of Google service APIs in our programs, and Google Play Service.
1.) Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Play Store, Google Voice Assistant, Photo Album, Cloud...etc, services provided by Google.
2.) Google service API refers to third-party programs that can access Google services in series, such as using Google Maps API in a car-hailing app to display location or navigation, or a file manager app using Google Drive API to access cloud files. ..Wait.
3.) Google Play Service can be used to update Google applications and allow developers to push the latest Google updates to users through the Play Store without waiting for Android updates to get them. In addition, such as verifying whether to support Google services, synchronizing contacts, account management, backup, payment authentication, privacy settings...etc. You can go to your Android phone and search for "Google Play Services" in the settings. You can see that there are a lot of permission requirements. Almost all Google services, or the experience of programs that use Google services, are similar to Google Play Service. very relevant.
The Mate30 series is unable to obtain the authorization of these services, so it cannot allow the device to be preloaded. The biggest impact here is that the latter two cannot be preloaded.
Some people on the latter two networks also say that it is GMS Core, or Google service framework, and the installer is installing these things, so that mobile phones without built-in GMS can use Google applications and services provided by the Play Store.
But so far, Huawei devices after 5/20 have not been authorized, so Huawei cannot publicly teach or release things like Google Installer, but users are willing to take risks, and spend time researching and installing GMS, that is personal behavior.
In the past two months, there have been a lot of tutorials on the Internet that teach you how to install LZplay's Google service assistant, and install GMS with one click. Now this method is no longer valid, but there are still many tutorials on how to install GMS on the Internet, so that you can perform personal Behavior.
My position is not good for public teaching or encouragement on how to flash GMS on Mate30 Pro. What I am discussing here is how I use Google and other apps without flashing the phone, and how I experience it.
To what extent can it be used without a flash?
Since there are many programs that use the API of Google services to connect, if the factory device has not been authorized by Google and has not been flashed by itself, it will not be able to connect to Google services. very big impact.
What are the effects? If the operation on the Mate30 Pro without flashing is found...
1.) There is no Google account option in the initial settings:
If you are used to keeping contacts, calendars, backups, etc. in your Google account, there is no way to sync them to your phone.
If you want to enter contacts, there are many methods. For example, you can first convert the contacts of the old phone to the vcf file stored in the mobile phone, and then use Wi-Fi Direct or other sharing methods to transfer them to the Mate30 Pro. , I think the most convenient way is to use Huawei Share.
In addition, the built-in "Phone Clone" of the mobile phone can also copy the applications and layouts of the old phone. However, after copying it, it can be found that Google Apps has not been copied to the Mate30 Pro.
2.) To use Google services on web pages:
There are many ways to contact people, but the usual Google calendar is more troublesome, and I am too lazy to study it. In this case, I open a webpage directly on the browser and use Google services.
It is still possible to log in to a Google account on the webpage, use Google to search and other services, and put the shortcut of the webpage on the desktop, which can also be regarded as one-click access.
The experience of the web version of Gmail, calendar, Google News, translation, and Keep is not that much worse than that of the app.
But the web version of Maps, Albums, Drive, YouTube, YouTube Music, etc. has its own lack. For example, if you use a map on a web page, you can search for locations and plan routes, but you cannot enter the navigation that guides you while you walk.
The web version of YouTube can't remember the last playback point, double-click to fast forward, and if you just subscribed to YouTube Premium, the web version of YT can't download and play in the background. I won't talk about them one by one here. If you want to know more, you can try to enter each service with a browser other than Chrome on your mobile phone.
3.) You can also download the APK and install it yourself
This is divided into Google App and non-Google App.
~Google App:
You can also download APKs from third-party stores such as APKPure, APKCombo, etc. for the above-mentioned Google services that are not well experienced on mobile web pages. The mobile phone also has a built-in Huawei App Store. These are all download channels.
However, for these programs, you must log in to your Google account to have a complete experience. For example, you need to log in in the map to view the starred locations, search records, etc. YouTube needs to log in to Premium to enjoy paid benefits, documents, calendars, etc. .And so on, you have to log in to use it, so the Google App will hit a wall when logging in. But if you don't mind, you can still install it. For example, the web map can't be navigated, but the app can.
~ Procedures for non-Google App but using Google account as login account:
Because I can't log in to my Google account in the program, I can't log in to this type of app. For example, I log in with my Google account for Booking.com, and I can't log in to use the service in the app; another example is my Apple Daily App. At first, I used Google as a member account. Although I can still read the news, I cannot enjoy the rights of my subscription. What to do then? Use it on the website. Therefore, there is no web version, and I log in with a Google account, which may not be available from the beginning.
It is not a Google App, nor does it use Google as a member account:
As long as this kind of App can capture the APK, there is no big problem in using it. Such as FaceBook, free news app...etc.
There are embedded/used Google services in the program:
That part doesn't work. For example, you can use the UberEats app to order food, but you can't display a map to track where the courier is (the web version works). The bus query App also has a similar situation. You can see the bus dynamics, but you cannot use the map to display the nearby stop signs.
3.) The app you have purchased or subscribed to see who collects money from you
As mentioned above, free, here is the fee, as long as the program is not charged through Google Play, you can use it as usual, such as the Taiwan version of iQiyi, Spotify, Kobo e-books, UberEats, Shopee... and so on. If you have your own membership account, you can also register for a credit card, or the manufacturer's own charging system, it will not have any impact on the use.
If the app is charged through Google Play, it will not be able to restore the purchase or load the purchased content because it cannot log in to the Google account.
5.) Payment App
Payment and online banking programs are very local. It is recommended that you can find more local programs in APKPure or APKCombo.
I don't have many online banks. I only tried Yushan and Cathay Pacific. Both of these online banking apps can be used. Most of the online banks have their own login accounts.
I haven't tried every program of mobile payment, Google Pay can't be sure, street payment can't be opened, LINE Pay basically can't be used.
6.) App for chat communication
Wait, LINE Pay cannot be used, does that mean LINE cannot be used?
No, the full version of LINE App is indeed not available (the program cannot be opened directly), but LINE Lite can, so you can still use LINE to send messages and chat, use purchased stickers, upload photos and video files, and watch LINE Today, but The functions in the full version of LINE, such as LINE Pay, LINE shopping, buying stickers, themes, backup conversations, etc., are not available.
7.) Apps that need to support Google-authenticated devices will not work
The above mentioned some programs that cannot be opened directly. It is presumed that these apps only support Google-certified devices. Some have tried to open directly or will crash, such as Netflix, 55688 Taiwanese fleet, PChome shopping, and street payment.
These are also, if there is a web version, you can use it directly on the web page.
Most of the above effects refer to "on the app", and half of it can be solved on the "browser", but the user experience, speed, etc. are not as refreshing and fast as the app. This is also to let everyone know first. "Personal behavior" seems to be a relatively straightforward solution (no wonder no one has written the usage of not flashing the machine), but personal behavior also affects the original function, or the version that was flashed one day suddenly can't be used, the source is unknown... etc. potential risks.
Well, after understanding these major premise, whether you want to enjoy the Mate30 Pro's lightness, wide screen vision, pleasing photos, etc., you have to judge.
