SST's advanced liquid sensor devices play a key role in protecting telecom equipment
To address this, SST now has a range of leak detection sensors based on its proprietary. The principle is simple but effective - if liquid touches the top of the sensor, it changes the properties of the optics, scattering light that was previously reflected internally.
Since most telecommunications infrastructure is located outdoors, they are often exposed to adverse weather conditions. Telcos need to guard against the threat of rain intrusion, as the ensuing damage can have dire consequences - leading to long-term service interruptions and expensive maintenance work. System checks are often very difficult due to the large human resources required and the equipment may be located in remote areas. To address this, SST now has a range of leak detection sensors based on its proprietary ADSP-BF518BSWZ-4 .
These compact, high-performance liquid level switching devices feature built-in microcontroller functionality and have no moving parts. Instead, they used a more convenient, reliable, and cheaper infrared (IR) sensing mechanism. The principle is simple but effective - if liquid touches the top of the sensor, it changes the properties of the optics, scattering light that was previously reflected internally. Therefore, less light enters the phototransistor of the device, resulting in a change in the output voltage. In this way, telecom operators/operators can quickly receive alerts for water in fiber optic cabinets, base stations, micro batteries, etc.
Since the cabinet is equipped with cables and electronics, the available space is limited. The small size of the Optomax device (available in an M10 housing with a length of 22.7mm) is ideal for this type of application setup. Supporting an operating temperature range of -25°C to +80°C, it can handle severe fluctuations in environmental conditions and maintain long-term operation. IR-based methods can provide higher sensitivity. This means there is no delay in response, so valuable instruments are not at risk.
SST has been developing and manufacturing fluid and gas sensing solutions for over a decade. These products are used to meet the general needs of industrial, aerospace, medical, transportation and domestic applications. SST's product portfolio includes optical level sensors, Zro2, luminescence-based oxygen sensors/analyzers, CO2 sensors and CO2 air quality monitors.
