The DRV2605 device is designed to provide extremely flexible haptic control of ERM and LRA actuators over a shared I 2 C compatible bus. This control eliminates the need for the host processor to generate pulse-width modulated (PWM) drive signals, saving the costly AOZ1036PI timer interrupts and hardware pins.

The DRV2605 device provides an extensive integrated library of over 100 ERM and LRA licensed effects from Immersion, eliminating the need to design haptic waveforms.

The DRV2605 device provides a licensed version of Immersion's TouchSense 2200 software, which includes the 2200 effects library and the 2200 audio-to-ambience feature. Additionally, the real-time playback mode allows the host processor to bypass the library playback engine and play waveforms directly from the host via I2C.

The DRV2605 device also includes a smart loop architecture to easily implement auto-resonant driving of LRAs and feedback-optimized ERM driving. This feedback provides automatic overdrive and braking, creating a simplified input waveform paradigm as well as reliable motor control and consistent motor performance. Audio-to-Haptic mode automatically converts audio input signals into meaningful haptic effects.

The DRV2605 device features a ternary modulated output stage that provides higher efficiency than linear-based output drivers. The 9-ball WCSP footprint, flexible operation, and low component count make the DRV2605 device ideal for portable and touch-enabled vibration and haptic applications.
