The OPA521 is a line driver power AN5274 amplifier that complies with CENELEC Bands A, B, C and D as well as Power Line Communication (PLC) conducted emissions requirements in ARIB STD-T84 and FCC Part 15. The device provides up to 2.5 A on high current, low impedance lines with reactive loads. With an optimized internal protection structure, the OPA521 uses minimal external protection components, resulting in a cost-effective and space-efficient system.

The OPA521 provides a closed-loop gain of –7V/V and a bandwidth of 3.8MHz. Monolithic integrated circuits provide high reliability in power line communication applications.

The OPA521 line driver operates from a single 7V to 24V supply. At typical load current (I OUT = 2.5 A, max), the wide output swing provides 10V PP capability from a nominal 24V supply.

The device is protected against overheating and short circuit conditions. Fault detection flags show current and thermal limits. A shutdown pin is provided to put the device into a low power state that consumes 58 μA (typ).

The OPA521 is available in a surface mount, 5mm × 5mm, 20-lead VQFN (RGW) package. The device operates over the extended industrial junction temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.
