Huawei Mate 10 Pro's various low-light test shots still have details!
This time, Huawei's Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro have many things worth trying, including performance, camera, power, EMUI8 added to the smart system, PC mode, connection, sound effects, etc. If you really want to write it, it will definitely be Luoluo is a long article, in order not to read the pressure, let's write separately, the first is the camera (the test shot is the Mate 10 Pro).
Since Huawei and Laika jointly built a camera and introduced black and white dual lenses, it has attracted a lot of attention at once, and its strength has also made breakthroughs. Mate 10 Pro is the fourth cooperation work between Huawei and Laika, continuing the black and white/color dual mirrors to enhance the details. , also added machine learning recognition and large aperture, it seems to be quite terrifying, the Mate 10 Pro scored 97 points in the DxOMark test, which is also considered to be in the leading group, but the newly added specifications are helpful for actual photos, do not match In line with expectations, let's take a look.
Among them, professional mode can manually adjust metering, ISO (50~ 3200 ), shutter speed (30s~1/4000s), EV (plus or minus 4), focus method, white balance (adjustable value), and can shoot RAW files, It is a professional mode with a complete set of projects and a large scope.
Large aperture, AI smart scene recognition, and four-in-one hybrid focus are the new specifications emphasized this time, and there have always been SUMMILUX-H dual lenses (bringing 2x zoom, portrait mode, black and white photos), OIS, night scene, The streamer... etc. also continues to the Mate 10 Pro.
Large aperture
This time, the two lenses of the Mate 10 Pro have f1.6 large aperture BP5310A. The large aperture has a large amount of light, allowing better brightness when taking pictures in low light. In addition, the color mirror has OIS, both factors can reduce the ISO. With software processing, the picture will be cleaner. I believe everyone knows this advantage.
In addition, on the dual-lens, the amount of light input is large, which can also make the camera more accurate when grasping the distance in a darker place, and can produce a natural and accurate blur effect. At the press conference, Huawei said that this is the largest aperture on a mobile phone, and it is still, but not the only, LG's V30+.
Wisdom identification
Furthermore, the introduction of AI scene recognition allows the automatic mode to be adapted according to the shooting "theme".
To identify the scene, the main purpose is to let the camera automatically adjust the most suitable shooting settings.
The subject is specially framed because this is its characteristic. Generally, the scene recognition of the camera is mostly based on the scene light source, brightness, whether the object is dynamic, whether there is a person, whether it is hand-held, etc. to judge the shooting scene, and more Precise possible manufacturers will have a massive photo database, so that the software has more basis for judgment.
The AI scene of the Mate 10 Pro also has a massive photo database, but this database is to help the software machine learn, identify what objects are in the picture, know what objects are, and then cooperate with the original ambient light that will be referenced...etc., you can Knowing what settings should be made automatically to make photos correct and beautiful, Mate 10 Pro can automatically identify 13 scenes such as blue sky, plants, food, documents, dogs, cats, sunsets, people, etc. After identification, it will appear in the lower right corner. There is an icon display, and the recognition speed is very fast. (But it seems that it can be recognized by the photo or the screen)
Using machine learning to automatically identify photos, we have already experienced it on Google Photos, and it should be a future trend to apply it to photo identification.
Although it is through machine learning, the scene recognition of the Mate 10 Pro is done in the device, no connection is required, and the speed is also fast. This is thanks to the Kirin 970 and the matching AI chip, which can process more than 2,000 images per minute. Photos, fast speed, no connection required, and also make the device more power-efficient when doing identification (although it may be more power-efficient to not do identification at all...)
During the trial shooting, I felt that its recognition was fast and accurate, and there was no problem with its ability, but what everyone wanted to know more should be, are the parameters applied after the recognition more beautiful? This is what we will look at when we look at the photos later.
Focus speed
The Mate 10 Pro uses several hybrid focusing methods such as phase, laser, and continuous auto when taking pictures, and the result is a faster focusing speed. In fact, the focus of mobile phones is very fast now, the important thing is whether the focus is fast in low light.
Here we do a little test.
Three kinds of brightness were tested here, generally bright indoor, dim light, and low light with only peripheral light outside the door. Focus speed is good in dim light, slow but acceptable in low light. However, if an automatic flash is set, the light will light up to assist when focusing, allowing the phone to have a normal focusing speed even in very low light conditions.
【Night, low light】
Let’s try low-light photography first, here are some normal nighttime shots, and there are only street lights around, and very low-light scenes.
This group is a type of night scene that is often photographed. Under the lighting of the street scene, the characters and the lighting on the tree can still be one by one, not sticking together, which is not bad. If it is matched with the HDR mode, it seems to enhance the sharpness.
This is an auto mode/detected night scene photo, I chose Vivid mode, so the tones are more saturated.
Zooming in to see the market where the lights in the distance are a little surprised. Generally, when the mobile phone is in low light and shooting in the distance, the leaves are usually muddy, and people or small objects will also look grainy, but the details of this picture are very good, the farthest Xiaomi advertising sign The characters on it are not overwhelmed by particles. For night shots taken by mobile phones, the clarity is much better than usual.
This scene is even darker again. It was almost 9 pm when I was shooting. There were fewer street lights by the lake in the park than the previous one, and it was drizzling at that time. The phone gets in the rain.
This was shot in Auto/Night Scene/Vivid mode, this has a tripod, no click metering, and it's fully autofocus metering.
Under the condition of ISO1250, the noise points in the bright and dark parts are handled very cleanly~
[Backlight, large brightness contrast]
This is also a difficult scene, especially when people are backlit. There are also a series of test shots of the Mate 10 Pro.
So let's look at the backlit portrait first.
I don’t think this photo is mentioned. You may not think that it was taken under the backlight at the first time (notice that Madou is facing the back window), because the background and people are very clear, and there is no exposure outside the window, so I will correct it. In terms of contrast, preservation of clarity, and beauty effects, it is quite successful.
I didn't specifically choose HDR when shooting this photo, but automatically detected the effect of portraits, and turned on the beauty and bokeh effects.
Comparison with P10 plus without AI
It has been said that the Mate 10 Pro has AI scene recognition and can automatically set the best parameters. Is it really that different from not having AI?
The one that is closest to Huawei's camera features and has no AI is its own P10 plus. Although the aperture is not the same, it is still a simple comparison.
What I couldn't measure in time may be a moving person in low light... (For example, in the press conference, shooting a singer in Pub)
In the comparison photos, compared with the P10 plus of the same door, the Mate 10 Pro has a great improvement in image quality, detail, sharpness, HDR, etc., especially in low light, it can have sharpness and details. It's still a difficult subject, whether it's because of the large aperture or AI scene detection, in short, the Mate 10 Pro has done it, which is a little surprising. This may slightly change the standard for viewing photos in the future.
Shooting portraits with beauty and bokeh still has a beautiful feeling, but the degree is more natural, and it will not be too soft to fake.
The camera function should be complemented by video recording. The Mate 10 Pro has no special enhancements in video recording, such as anti-shake, image quality, etc. I heard that Google's Pixel 2 uses machine learning to improve anti-shock The effect of hand shake, if AI will be the focus of Huawei's mobile phones in the future, it seems that there are still many places that can be used and need to be used.
