The AD9689BBPZ-2600 is a dual, 14-bit, 2.0 GSPS/2.6 GSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The device features on-chip buffers and is designed for low power consumption, small size and ease of use. This product is designed to support communications applications capable of directly sampling wide bandwidth analog signals up to 5 GHz. The ?3 dB bandwidth of the ADC input is 9 GHz. The AD9689BBPZ-2600 is optimized for wide input bandwidth, high sampling rate, excellent linearity and low power package. The dual ADC core has a multi-stage, differential pipeline architecture with integrated output error correction logic. Each ADC has a wide bandwidth input that supports a variety of user-selectable input ranges. An integrated voltage reference simplifies design considerations. The analog input and clock signal are differential inputs. The ADC data output is internally connected to four digital downconverters (DDCs) through a cross-multiplexer. Processing stage: a 48-bit frequency converter (Digitally Controlled Oscillator (NCO)) and decimation rate. The NCO has the option to select preset frequency bands instead of general purpose input/output (GPIO) pins, and up to three bands can be selected. Operation of the AD9689BBPZ-2600 between DDC modes is selectable through an SPI programmable configuration file. In addition to the DDC module, the AD9689BBPZ-2600 also has a variety of functions to simplify the automatic gain control (AGC) function communication receiver. A programmable threshold detector allows fast monitoring of the input signal power using the ADC control bit in register 0x0245. If the input signal level exceeds a programmable threshold, the fast detection indicator goes high. Because of the low latency of this threshold specification, the user can quickly turn down the system gain to avoid overrange conditions on the ADC input. In addition to the fast detect output, the AD9689 also provides signal monitoring capabilities. The Signal Monitor block provides additional information about the signal being digitized by the ADC. Users can configure subclass 1 JESD204B based high speed serial outputs in various single, dual, quad and octal configurations, depending on the configuration of the DDC receive logic and acceptable lane rate devices. Multi-device synchronization is supported via the SYSREF± and SYNCINB± input pins.
The AD9689BBPZ-2600 has flexible power-down options that allow significant power savings when needed. All of these functions are programmable using a 3-wire serial port interface (SPI).
The AD9689BBPZ-2600 is a lead-free, 196-ball BGA specified over the -40°C to +85°C ambient temperature range. This product is protected by a US patent. Note that throughout the datasheet, multi-function pins, such as FD_A/GPIO_A0, are referenced by the entire pin name or by the individual function of the pin, such as FD_A, when only that function is relevant.
