The AD8132 is a low-cost, differential or single-ended input-to-differential output amplifier with resistor-set gain. Compared to op amps, the AD8132 is a major advance in driving differential input ADCs or driving long signal lines. It has a unique internal feedback feature that provides an output gain and phase matching balance of ~68 dB at 10 MHz, suppressing harmonics and reducing radiated electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Manufactured on Analog Devices' next-generation XFCB bipolar process, the AD8132 offers differential signaling with a ?3 dB bandwidth of 350 MHz, a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of ?99 dBc at 5 MHz, and low cost. The device eliminates the need for a transformer with high-performance ADCs and preserves low-frequency and DC information. Applying a voltage to the VOCM pin adjusts the common-mode level of the differential output, allowing easy level shifting of the input signal driving a single-supply ADC. Fast overload recovery ensures sampling accuracy.

The AD8132 can also be used as a differential driver for high-speed signal transmission over low-cost twisted pair or coaxial cable. The high frequency content of the signal can be boosted by adjusting the feedback network. The AD8132 can be used for analog, digital video signals, or other high-speed data transmission, and can also drive Category 3, Category 5 twisted pair or coaxial cable with minimal line attenuation. The AD8132 offers significant cost and performance improvements over discrete line driver solutions.

Differential signal processing reduces the impact of ground noise on ground-referenced systems. The AD8132 can be used for differential signal processing (gaining and filtering) of the entire signal chain, greatly simplifying interfacing between differential and single-ended devices.

The AD8132 is available in 8-lead SOIC and 8-lead MSOP packages and operates over the extended industrial temperature range of ?40°C to +125°C.
