The AD8372 is a dual, digitally controlled, variable gain amplifier that provides precise gain control, high IP3, and low noise figure. Outstanding low distortion performance and wide signal bandwidth make the AD8372 ideal for multichannel receiver applications.
For wide dynamic range applications, the AD8372 provides a wide gain range of 41dB. Its gain is programmable through a 4-pin, bidirectional serial port. Each channel serial interface includes a clock, latch, data input lines and data output lines.
The AD8372 provides the ability to set the output stage transconductance with an external resistor. The RXT1 and RXT2 pins are typically connected to ground through a 2.0 kΩ resistor, setting the maximum gain rating to 31 dB. By adjusting the current setting resistors, the gain and distortion performance of each channel can be controlled. This flexible feature can be used in applications where power consumption and distortion performance are compromised.
The AD8372 is powered with appropriate logic levels on the ENB1, ENB2 pins. In power-save mode, the AD8372 has less than 2.6 mA of standby current, providing excellent input-output isolation. Gain setting is maintained in power saving mode.
The AD8372 is fabricated using ADI's high-frequency BiCMOS process and features precise gain control adjustment capability and low distortion performance. The quiescent current per channel of the AD8372 is typically 106 mA. The AD8372 amplifier is packaged in a compact, thermally enhanced 5 mm × 5 mm 32-lead LFCSP package and operates over a temperature range of –40°C to +85°C.
