The ADA4960-1 is a high performance differential amplifier optimized for RF and IF applications. Its spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) is better than 63 dB at frequencies up to 500 MHz and better than 52 dB at frequencies up to 1 GHz, making it a high-speed 8-bit to 10-bit giga-sampling analog-to-digital converter ( ADC) ideal driver.

Unlike other wideband differential amplifiers, the ADA4960-1 has buffered inputs that isolate the gain setting resistor (RG) from the signal input. Therefore, for gains of 6 dB to 15 dB, the ADA4960-1 maintains a constant 10 kΩ differential input resistance, reducing matching and input drive requirements. The device has a nominal 150 Ω differential output resistance.

It has high broadband, low distortion performance at 1 GHz and above. These features, along with wide gain adjustment capability, make it the amplifier of choice for general IF and broadband applications where low distortion, low noise, and low power consumption are critical.

The device also includes a unity-gain buffer to buffer DC signals such as the amplifier's common-mode input. This buffer is located between pin 6 (input) and pin 5 (output). If this buffer is not used, the output can be disconnected and the input can be grounded.

It is ideal for driving not only ADCs, but also mixers, diode attenuators, SAW filters, multi-component discretes, and buffered high-frequency DACs. The device is available in a 3 mm × 3 mm, 16-lead LFCSP (single version) or a 4 mm × 4 mm, 24-lead LFCSP (dual version). The operating temperature range is ~40°C to +105°C.
