The ADL5205 is a digitally controlled, wide bandwidth, variable gain dual amplifier (DGA) that provides precision gain control, a high output third-order intercept point (OIP3), and a nearly constant noise figure (for 12 dB first attenuation ). Excellent OIP3 performance of 48.5 dBm (at 200 MHz, 5 V, high performance mode and maximum gain) makes it an excellent gain control device for a variety of receiver applications.
For wide input dynamic range applications, the ADL5205 provides a wide gain range of 35 dB in 1 dB steps. Gain can be adjusted with a variety of gain controls and interface options: parallel, SPI or gain lift control.
Both channels of the ADL5205 are powered up independently by applying the appropriate logic levels to the PWUPA and PWUPB pins. The typical quiescent current of the ADL5205 for high-performance mode and low-power mode is 175 mA and 135 mA, respectively. When disabled, it consumes only 14 mA and provides excellent input-output isolation. When the device is disabled, the gain setting remains unchanged.
Manufactured on Analog Devices' high-speed, silicon-germanium (SiGe) complementary BiCMOS process, the ADL5205 provides precise gain adjustment and good distortion performance. It is packaged in a compact thermally enhanced 6 mm × 6 mm, 40-lead LFCSP package and operates over a temperature range of ~40°C to +85°C.
Note that throughout the data sheet, multi-function pins (such as CSA/A3) are represented by either the entire pin name or the individual function of the pin; e.g. CSA means that only this function is relevant.
